Using AI To Create A Coloring Book
 

Recently I took a trip to visit relatives out of town for a youngster's birthday party. My wife asked about making a coloring book for a couple of the younger kids.

I logged in to my ChatGPT account and got started.

I had created images using prompts in the past so I thought I could do the same with a coloring book.

I loaded a couple of pictures and with a prompt about kids in super hero costumes.... poof... a nice cover was created. I had to do a little tweaking to get the picture just right, but the output went remarkably well.

The next part took some time but worked out better than I could of thought.

My wife provided me with a story line and I started to just prompt the story line... bit by bit. I specifically asked for line art so it would create coloring page art.

As each page was created I saved it and moved on.

I was surprised that simple ChatGPT could create pages that it did. What is important to note here is that I was specifically prompting what the output was going to be every step of the way. For example: Create a simple line art image of grandma (reference image 1) sitting at a table eating a donut.

An image was then created that I could download and place in the coloring book. I used PAGES in my Mac to create the coloring book.

AI might not be as creative as people or at all, but with specific prompting, can help you with a task you weren't able to do before.

This coloring book is a perfect example of help because I have never been an artist or as the joke goes, "I couldn't even draw a straight line". My wife gave me the story from a text and I was off to the races.

Using AI to help is the key in my mind. NOT as a replacement... but as an assistant.

Did he or she Use it?

Play with it?

Cuz when I was a Young Whippersnapper.

I got more Finger paints on me than the paper.

Couldn't stay in the lines on all my coloring books.

Pundits are Predicting Each one of us will get our own ROBOT helper.

I beg to differ.

Just the basic Steel and Rare materials needed to create robots. THERE is not
enough to go around.

Just like there is not enough ELECTRICITY in our Power grid in the USA.

And creating Xmas Trees, and Rudolph the reindeer
Christmas cards on Bland 8 by 10 paper
with my D Grade level Art Skills.

People LUV them.

Cuz nobody else - Not kids or adults is using Crayons to
CREATE a Thank you card - anymore.

The kids got into a ruckus as to who got to keep the book!

The parents were very happy with it.

In the process of creating another for another child... will let you know what happens.
