Default Lawrence... Curb painting question

Hi Lawrance,
I liked your idea about curb painting and just had a question.
How many trips do you make when you paint the numbers? One trip or 2?? I know the background paint needs to dry before you can apply the numbers.
Also ,how will a person go about finding all the homeowner associations in my local area?

By the way , can a woman do this job??

Rhonda -

With all due respect, there are much easier and more profitable way to generate income than for you to paint house numbers. I believe you can do much better with your time.

Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
Thanks for your input.
What would suggest for a person with little cash? What would you do to make 10k (have in the bank)by July 31,2003.
I am also thinking about Don Alm info board for hotel/motel or daily special boards for Hardware stores.

Rhonda,

Have you checked out ebay? Although I can't promise that you would make 10k by the end of July, I'm sure it could put some spare cash in your pockets.

A lot of the posters here have positive experiences from ebay. Especially Jim Wilson from auctionhints.com has a lot of knowledge on ebay.

Regards,
Fred

Rhonda,

A woman can certainly do this, as it is not difficult in terms of physical labor.

In order to earn good money with this, it needs to be operated like a business. There's much more to it than just how to do the jobs. The jobs need to be secured on a regular basis and that involves understanding what people respond to. There's a lot of psychology involved in getting a predictable stream of orders.

Most residents view this as "yeah, whatever" and won't respond to fliers in large numbers. Also, painting address numbers on curbs is typically done by highschool fund-raisers; boy scouts and kids looking to pick up spending money. It just doesn't garner an image of any more than that.

I did the flier thing and experienced low response. My approach comes from a long time of testing along with some aids that prove effective on a regualr basis.

Homeowner's association members can be located by knocking on doors and simply asking the residents who the officers are. Unless it's a very large association of several hundred (or thousand) homes, they typically operate out of their homes. Yesterday, I met with the presidents of two aassociations and it was in their homes.

They've agreed to contract with me because of the work I've been doing there already, the quality work I do and the professional manor in which I operate. I've formed a company, have business cards, a business phone number, wear a business identification badge and guarantee the jobs to last for at least 10 years. I apply six coats of weatherproof paint and people feel they get value for their money, as well as a nice looking product since mine are different from the typical curb addresses.

If you're looking for a way to make money, there are several ways to go these days, you just need to find something that clicks with you.

You can email me with more specific qustions if you'd like, but please understand that my success comes from the system I've developed and that does mean knocking on doors and giving a 30 second pitch. My response rate is high, as is my income because and only because I'm willing to kncok on doors and know exactly what to do every step of the way. That's why I get 60% to 80%
positive response instead of the paltry 1% to 3% derived from passing out fliers.

Default Rhonda, if you need $10,000 by July 31, 2003......

In order to have $10,000 in the bank by July 31, 2003, you’ll need to produce about $1000 per week starting now! That is if you have other income to pay your bills with and if not, you’ll need more than that each week.

Perhaps you were impressed with the fact that I can and do earn an average of $300 a day by painting address numbers on curbs.

Even if I personally trained you to follow my structure to the letter, you would need time to fully understand all the little inter-connecting strategies that make this work so well for me.

You may even be able to generate $1000 per week fairly quickly, but there is definitely a learning curve with this, as with anything else you’re new to.

I can do it because I’ve trained myself and experienced some negatives along the way and I did not quit!

I enjoy contract work with Home Owner’s Associations now because of what I had already set up and established. I no longer need to knock on doors if I choose to do only contract work now. But, knocking on doors is really fun for me where it didn’t used to be.

There were some days when the negative energy was so thick; I didn’t want to go to work the next day. But, I learned how to smooth all that out and turn the negative energy into much more positive by applying some self-taught techniques.

Yes, I run this as a business and make good money as a result, but I’ve paid my dues and am at a point where what I do is now “second nature” to me. I’m in full control of my business and can work when I want and take off when I want and make money almost instantly when I choose to do so.

I’ve learned a lot about people in general and what they will and won’t respond to. I’ve learned about business and am applying these techniques to other areas with noticeable success including other business areas.

Whatever claims you read or hear that people are making may or may not be true, but if they are, then please understand that those claims may be valid for others ONLY after they’ve made the commitment to stay with it and are willing to go through the learning curve until it too (whatever that is) becomes familiar and comfortable.

Money is a powerful motivator and when you find something that earns you at least some in the begining, then just stay with it and continue to do more of the same until you, too, can call your own shots. Just be realistic and willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
