Default Impact of Free Advice

Has anyone noticed how often a person you are talking with about business when you offer "free advice" actually takes you up on said advice?

I noticed that when I give a very detailed example or technique to a business owner that is the time when advice is valued. I usually think that if the owner gets my best when just chatting, then he will value having me advise him for a fee.

What has been your experience?

Does anyone know where I can find Jay Abraham's old ad about him working for free as long as he gets a wonderful referral?

I know it is long copy, but I seem to remember elements that are still valuable today.

This is not what I am looking for... but thanks.

The ad I am looking for is where Jay specifically said that h e would work for free as long as the company or person would sing his praises to the stars, so to speak, after he made the company money, sales, etc...... and ONLY after the fact.

I am still looking for it.

Hi Steve and Millard,

Did you see number 68 in the report Steve linked to?

I ask people for referral letters before I do a talk. A customer could say to his or her friend, his or her colleague, 'This person is good. He did a good job for me, and I as a customer will benefit by sharing the association.' And that’s become our full compensation. I do the very best job I can of making my old customer look good. They appreciate it, and now I get people calling me out of the blue with referrals. That’s the compensation that works for me"
It's not the ad you're looking for... but the idea seems to be the same! I think these ideas are from Jay's customers...

Thanks Millard,

This is the Only Jay A Ad I use.

Because you can Charge 2k to 5K to FIX an Ad.

And NEVER - EVER have a Client ask for a Refund.

Even if your version sucks.
