Default Restaurant Profits

I think I may have mentioned this before about the time I went into a restaurant for a meal and while eating mentioned a money-saving tip to the owner. He was so happy, that from that point forward, I never had to pay for a meal there for myself or my wife.

With that example in mind, I was wondering if the same thing could happen again?

Keep in mind, that I do well when I am in a one-on-one situation with people. I have found that even though I do well when talking with someone personally, it doesn't translate as well when I am on the phone. It could be that I just engage well with people in person. (Might be due to my years as a performer)

In any case, I could see going to local restaurants that I like, ordering a meal, and trying to talk with the owner. As a customer, I am assuming the owner would be more inclined to talk with me briefly.

Now I want to make a side-trip.

Glenn Osborn has talked many times of his experiences eating with prospects at restaurants and "flirt-tipping" staff to impress the prospect. Perhaps just doing what Glenn does with prospects will make far more money that you can spend eating at your favorite restaurants than helping the restaurant owners?

Who knows?

I would imagine that depending on the amount of time a person spends prospecting restaurants or just eating and talking to folks will make a choice as to whether or not it is worth going after restaurants for profits.

Since my wife and I go out to eat AT LEAST, one time a week, it is time to INCREASE my efforts to make going out more FUN and more profitable.

Default Intent?

Millard, it seems you have two ideas, one for the restaurant? And the other for prospects you take to the restaurant? Is this correct? Who are the prospects, what are you offering to them?

As for restaurants only, you gave the guy VALUE, back in the day, by giving ideas for them to increase profits, or decrease expenses, what ever the value of the tips were, he thought it worth your free meals.

As a showman, you may be able to pull off Glenn's techniques, they aren't suited for most of us, but adding value to restaurants...is a different thing.

Friend of the forum, Steve DiMarco does a good business with his restaurant daily special menu boards, which the restaurants get for free, and he sells advertising on them.

His newer program, so far for pizza shops and take-out places, could be adapted to sit down restaurants, because the flyers offer a MONTHLY coupon, and the restaurant could get repeat customers...again, for free.

Not quite sure, what your goal might be, but all restaurants (or most) would not turn down more business would they? I think it might have to do with the VALUE you bring to either the restaurant or your PROSPECT, as impressed as he might be with your flirt tipping skills, when it comes time for him to reach for his wallet, he still needs to know what is IN IT FOR HIM? What value are you offering?

Or are you just looking for more fee meals?

Any owner would love to have some money making ideas for the cost of a meal or two, I'd think?

Gordon

Default Re: Restaurant Profits

Thanks for the comments Gordon.

My thinking on the restaurants is more of having a pleasant experience, engaging with staff, giving a tip or two.... just knowing that going into the restaurant will be FUN.

Since I live in a tourist town, the local restaurants ALWAYS have plenty of people during the "season". The restaurants make so much money during the season, that off-season doesn't seem to worry them. I know, I know... bringing business to them during off-season could be a selling point...

I think this is more of "This happened once... can it happen again?" type of thing. The idea of going out to eat and NOT having to pay has always been FUN to me !

Ha! I went into a restaurant with every intention of paying for my meal.
Saw some kids giving their parents trouble and disturbing the patrons.

I did some entertainment for the kids, settled them down, and the manager came out and said, your meal is on the house. A nice surprise.

A good example of having fun while I am out and about. These types of experiences are FUN for me.

I think the reason I like Glenn's flirt tipping so much is that it makes going out to eat more FUN.

In fact, I have been blessed enough, with people, with friends, with experiences that have made my life more FUN, more EXCITING, and just more ENJOYABLE. If you are going to live life, just make it more FUN.

Bring in some donuts.... make a fruit basket... drop off a book... keep smiling... have some good stories... love people... do your best.

Default 2024-Restaurant Owners Want To Keep People OUT of Their Restaurant

Thanks Gordon/Millard,

Every Restaurant owner and manager Focuses on TWO THINGS.

Keeping his/her employees Happy.

And

Keeping people OUT of the Restaurant.

SURPRISED?

After the Pandemic People have been TRAINED to Drive thru.
Use the pickup window.
Order from a phone app
Order off of a Kiosk instead of a human bean.

So.

The Sit Down area - which is LABOR Intensive - is EMPTY.

Fast food Restaurants Especially are moving to
Remove or Downsize the SIT DOWN area of every Restaurant.

NEW Fast Food
Restaurants will have
NO Sit Down Area - at all.

I can SEE this happening
at the top 2 Biggest Fast Food Chains in the USA here in Maryland.

McD and Wendy's

Wendy's - for example - Just remodeled the Store
I eat in to make the Seats and Tables TINY.

Uncomfortable.

Difficult to sit in.

So small I have to sit at a 4 seat table to have room for all my Plastic
and paper food wrappers and cups.

Restaurant Labor is an Increasing NIGHTWARE.

So Why Tell You This?

Because WHEN You share ideas or DO THINGS that
make the COOKS HAPPY - the owner TRIES to THANK REWARD YOU.

(I've Improved Lotto tipping. Discovered a way to guarantee 3 or more cooks win a $1 or $2 every time you visit. Heh heh - I Figured a way to Guarantee you tip winners.)

I've Asked in Dozens of restaurants and
NOBODY ELSE TIPS the cooks.

So you are an INSTANT VIP.

PROVEN IDEA #2 -

WHEN You hand waitresses a "LEFTOVER-Fries Recipe"
they can GIFT to Customers - MOST of Whom ALREADY ask for a Take out
box.

The Waiters Tips go up.

The Customers are happy - More Value - same cost.

the Owner/Manager can BRIBE customers to ORDER more for the cost of a piece of paper.

Cheese Sandwich & Leftover French Fries Recipe:

Ingredients -

2 Slices of Bread

2 Slices of Your Favorite Cheese

Caste Iron Pan

Cold - Leftover French Fries

DIRECTIONS -

Place bread on a flat surface

Put two slices of cheese on top of Bread Slice

Arrange Leftover French Fries on top of cheese Slices

Put Top on Sandwich

Put into Caste iron Skillet - low heat
Cover to speed heating.

Check every 2 Minutes

When brown on bottom - Flip over

When cheese melts and HISSES onto skillet - Sandwich is DONE.

Hot cheese - Hot Fries - YUMMY.

Thanks,
Glenn

Default Left-Over Fries

Glenn,

I like your idea of gifting your recipe for left-over fries.

Was just wondering.... Once you come back to the restaurant, do you get any feedback as to how the left-over fries recipes were received?

I am assuming you get VIP service for all your tipping, so is this recipe received as a real gift for the customers?
