![]() I'm just wondering who your readers use to compile their ebooks in Adobe Acrobat format. As you know, this software is expensive, so, I would rather hire someone to compile my ebooks for me.
I know one company who does a great job, but, I'm just trying to get a feel for what others charge, my options etc. Thank you. |

![]() Why pay someone when you can use a free pdf compiler like the one made by Easy Software (easysw.com)

![]() Hi Ken,
Fellow Canadian eh? I use a little free program called HTMLDOC. You simply play around with compiling html pages directly into .PDF format. You can download it here: http://www.easysw.com/htmldoc/ Hope this helps! Respectfully, Paul Short EbizEdge.com |

![]() I learned of a program called PdfFactory that generates pdf files. I tried the trial version and plan to pay the $49.95 for the standard version since I don't need the features of the pro version. The trial version places a statement at the bottom of the page stating that it was produced using the trial version of PdfFactory.
It simply adds another "printer" to your print menu. When you "print" using that "printer," it produces a pdf file you can save where you want. I tested it on a file from Word 2000, posted it on my web site and was able to download it and read it using Acrobat Reader 4.0 without a hitch. It was easy to install, too. ![]() Many of the free and low-priced conversion programs (I bought Win2PDF and am happy with it) lack security options and the ability to embed fonts. In order to prepare PDF files to be sold on Amazon.com, I could not use Win2PDF, which worked for all other purposes, and instead used the 5 free conversions available at the Adobe Acrobat Web site, which includes all options of the full-featured Acrobat program.

![]() Hi Ken,
Forgive me if I'm confusing you with someone else with the same or similar name, but if I remember correctly: You're from Ottawa, I am too. You're creating an ebook/website business, I am too. Your product is about golf; I used to play a lot and want to get back into it (and did okay at the driving range the last two summers). I bought the dang program. I worked for a year as a tech-writer proofreader. I'm not a graphic designer at all, but my learning curve with Acrobat has produced some decent pages, though none have yet been offered to the public, as I'm now preparing my first web-biz offering, which will be an ebook in pdf. Reviewing a draft version and the changes to make is surely a huge bit easier if you're sitting down at the same table with the person you're working with, looking at the same page, marking it up. If I have remembered you correctly, shoot me an email. If not, uhh, good luck! Cheers, Ken Langille |
