Is there some way for you to verify those numbers.? It's hard to believe that a police officer has such a short life span after retirement.
Could you do more research on what you read.?
The folks I have known over the years are ready to leave their jobs for the most part. Stress of course is a problem.

There are some who have a hard time making the adjustment but most of them have something else going on after hours to help pay the bills.
When you have been telling folks what to do and require them to follow your instructions and always being in control it can be a challenge for some of them after 25-30 years on the job.

Had you thought of interviewing the ones who have left the force to get their input.?
Suggestions and ideas from this group may be of help to you.
